Berns Drums and Percussion

Berns Drums and Percussion opened its doors to the public in September last year and is the first dedicated drum centre in West Sussex. It’s aim is to offer a vast choice of drumkits, cymbals, percussion and every possible accessory for the beginner and the professional drummer.

With brand names known throughout the drumming world and at the best prices possible. Pearl,Yamaha,Tama, Premier and Mapex feature prominently in the display of over twenty drum kits and most models can be supplied from stock. Cymbals from Sabian, Paiste, Zildjian and Meinl are on display in various sizes and ranges for beginners to advanced players.

With the rise in interest of all percussion, Berns Drums has a wide selection of Djembes, Congas, Bongos and all types of hand held percussion from all over the world, for those who are looking for something a bit different. Drum heads by Remo and Evans, and drumsticks by Vic Firth, Ahead , Zildjian, and Promark are available at special prices for quantity.

The idea of a dedicated drum store was the brainchild of Bernie Smith the proprietor of this unique local business.

A professional drummer in the sixties and having been in the music trade for 25 years, he has been running his main shop Berns Music, managed superbly by Lynne Avery, since 1986.He has also managed to acquire the talents of two excellent local drummers, Nick Smith and Jamie Muffett to assist in the running of the business, both of whom teach as well as play.

It was the demand for drums and everything drumming that prompted Bernie to expand the specialist drum centre..

offering sales, part exchange and repairs. Drum tuition is also a part of the day to day activities at Berns Drums and can be arranged on a weekly and flexible basis.

Back in April this year the drum centre was honoured to have the talents of Carl Palmer bestowed upon them .Voted one of the worlds best drummers, he gave a masterclass to 31 drummers who were enthralled by his skills.

Masterclasses, clinics and workshops will become a big part of the future of Berns Drums...

with Lloyd Ryan, the man who taught Phil Collins everything he knows, is already booked for the 28th October. More details of this and future events can be obtained from the drum centre or ring for more information.
