Chichester based AWA began Airtight Studios Battle of the Bands competition. They gave a competent display of largely folk tinged covers. A pleasant performance and there is a certainly an audience there for this easy listening approach, but they didnt really grab the attention due to an absence of innovation or a cutting edge.
The judges were asked to mark on originality, performance and the crowds reaction and also give comments...A feel good band Airtight. Seemed to enjoy themselves...pleasant listening VIP Vinyl. Competent musically, focus more on originality Rox. Classic pub performance Rapture. Good full sound Clocked Work. Well presented covers...tight rhythm...well behaved Cab Co. Relaxed and played well Kaos. A place for everything and everything in its place Unknown Promotions. Like the Cranberries Punch House. Bass player wears sandals Cut n Groove... Next up are Southamptons Dead Jacks (punk-metal) before Grifter unleash their new unhinged space-rock on 3/7. Then its Aubrey Lemmons power pop on 17/7 and Penfolds indie rock on 31/7.
