Mikes music workshop

Rapture for a long time now…
has been supported by Mikes Music.

We take a closer look, at what Mike’s Music…has to offer!

Mikes Music Workshop, Bognor regis

Mike’s Music came into being 22 years ago in September 1981. Mike Bosley left college having trained as a musical instrument repairer and needed somewhere to work, so why set up in Bognor Regis many people ask?

“Well it’s where I lived at the time and nobody else thought of opening a music shop here. Also the overheads on a small shop in the back streets of Bognor (Essex Road to be exact) were very cheap!”

“Many people worked with me in the early days sometimes for money and a lot of time because it was fun. I have grown up (a bit) since then, and now claim to be a respectable businessman. This involves me in a lot more “serious stuff” as we now employ and contract to over 10 people. They in turn have mortgages to pay and families to feed, so I have to get it right.”

The shop is divided up into a number of areas, and occupies two separate buildings, where new and pre-loved instruments are sold and rented at amazingly competitive prices and you can part exchange instruments too.

A main strength is an on site repair workshop for brass, woodwind and all types of stringed instruments and the expert staff employed, who are more than happy to discuss in person your instrument needs! Without exception, musical instruments need time spent on them to make them play easily and reliably. Mike’s Music Ltd ensures that expert craftsmen correctly set up the instruments offered for sale. All instruments are worked on and checked before being offered for sale or rental. This ensures that regardless of the quality of the instrument or whether it is new or pre-owned it will function correctly and be reliable.

If you subject yourself to most shop advertising you usually can find amongst the sales blurb the words AFTER SALES SERVICE. What does it mean?
Well, to many retailers it means:

“It’s a good thing to say, lets say it and hope no one tests it”.

A lot of businesses take this attitude because good after sales service costs money to provide. If you are just a reseller, all you do is buy products from wholesalers, sell them on to customers, and take your margin. The only time a customer is of interest is when they want to buy another new product.

At Mike’s Music things are a little different, at the start the business was set up to offer repairs and accessories. In effect, a lot of people first find us when they needed some after sales care.
If, for example, a flute you have had for years breaks down, it is out of guarantee of course, but not beyond needing after sales service. Ok, in this instance you pay for the repair, but to obtain service all you do is give us a call. We will collect the instrument from you, service it and deliver it back.

Service is the main part of our business, if something bought from us develops a small problem; we are the people to sort it out. When you need more information, accessories, or add ons to get the most from your purchases, we don’t have sales people; we have technical and musical people, who want to help you!
